Children and women face significant challenges in Africa and millions experience child marriages, limited access to education and healthcare, and high rates of violence. Malawi also has widespread poverty, high rates of child marriages (46.7% of girls marry before the age of 18.) and has high adolescent pregnancy rates.
Significant number of children are deprived of basic needs, while women experience high rates of violence and are disproportionately burdened by unpaid care work.
Allelon Ministries Malawi was founded by Liness Likhoozi, a passionate advocate for children, women, and underserved communities in Malawi. It aims at advancing the empowerment, well being and equal participation in the society through various initiatives like educational and economic empowerment programs, advocacy for policy changes and fostering supportive networks.
